A Lipizzan of a different color!

And a barn of a different color!

Romania's state stud farm is Sambata de Jos, built by Queen Mary.  It is located in Transylvania, about 350 km north of Bucharest.  Dalnic, where Stoso was born, was a satellite of the state stud farm.  They rarely sell their horses because the Lipizzans they breed there are considered the 'National Patrimony'.

Romanian Lipizzans have competed very successfully in international driving competitions; the gold-medalists from WEG in 2003 from Hungary were bred in Romania.  Pictured above are a young driving team of Tulipans (a mare and stallion) preparing for a driving competition.  Many Romanian Lipizzaners are colored; bays, blacks and chestnuts (pictured below) are much more common.
