Scenes from the 7th Annual

Andreas Hausberger Clinic

Andreas riding Maestoso XLIV-17, the Romanian Lipizzan stallion imported by Jennifer Roth in 2004.

The 2005 clinic with Andreas Hausberger from the Spanish Riding School was the best ever!  Most riders were veterans of previous clinics, but there were several new faces including two talented young riders, Mattie and Steffani riding their ponies Royal and Turbo.

As usual, one of the highlights of the clinic is the work-in-hand, teaching horse and rider half-steps, piaffe and passage!  Below, imported Romanian Lipizzan stallion Stoso (Maestoso XLIV-17) learns piaffe!

Of course, it doesn't always go this smoothly (especially on the first day!)

This year, promising junior rider Jessica was able to bring her young Lipizzan mare, Libby, to the clinic.

Like father, like son!  Maestoso II Favoressa III and son Maestoso Tribecca

Several riders worked on lateral work including walk pirouette and shoulder-in, pictured below on Siglavy Angelica II-I, Jennifer Roth's schoolmaster and former competition horse, and Merlin (right).

Others were mastering half-pass.

As usual, Mr. Hausberger rode several horses (at their owners' request), demonstrating once again that he practices what he preaches! Pictured below on Lori Green's mare Amora. and Maestoso XLIV-17 (with Jennifer Roth on the ground helping improve the passage), Tu-Shay and Libby.

Kate was brave enough to take a lunge-line lesson; all riders at the Spanish Riding School are started for the first couple of years on the lunge line; those of us not lucky enough to have been started correctly ourselves could benefit from one of these as well!

Below, the author is posting the medium trot...as Andreas said to me, "Five years ago, you couldn't even correctly post the trot. Now, you can sit the passage."  and "We get there; slowly, but we get there."   I'm living proof that these clinics (and lessons with Jennifer!) really make a difference...

(hopefully I'll be getting a passage picture from a friend to put next to this...)

See you next year!
