Note: the 'missing information' in this email has since been found, and can be seen in Stoso's pedigree
Hello Nancy,
Hereby I send you the pedigree with added data. I put it in a Microsoft
Excel-file, USLR_M XLIV-17.xls, which is attached.
I could not find the year of birth of the sire and the place of birth of
the dam, as I do not have recent data from Romania. Furtheron, everything
could be found. Some data on the original Romanian pedigree are not correct.
I typed it bold for you.
Maestoso XLIV-17 is originating from the former Romanian state stud 'Dalnic'.
As the region is originally Hungarian ('Transsylvania !'), the studfarm
is now called 'Dalnok' , which is just the original name in Hungarian.
As I was told, the studfarm had some major financial problems recently,
and doesn't excist anymore, or not in the original way.
The marefamily is interesting, as it leads back to a Lipizzaner mare of
1909, born at the private studfarm of Count Andrassy in the Transsylvania-area.
Since the middle of the 19th century, Count Andrassy bred also Lipizzans.
I found in the imperial registers some Lipizzans, which he bought directly
from the imperial court stables. This is not strange, as the count was
a close (some say intimate...) friend of Empress Elisabeth ("Sissy")
in
that time.
Out of this breed, no other horses can be traced than this "49 Hidas".
But
the interesting part of the story is that all progeny, descending directly
of this marefamily, are still of a high quality. For example, after the
recent reorganisation in Piber, only those Romanian, which are originating
from this family, remained. All other Romanian and Hungarian mares and their
progeny were sold!
I hope, this helps. I am very curious about this horse, as I have seen a
half-brother (also of Maestoso XLIV) in Holland recently, which I liked
very much.
Best regards
Atjan
